Catching my breath

I can honestly say that this Lovebirds art is the piece of the week. The sign on their wings says love - always.

Today I am sitting here infront of my computer sipping homemade lemonade and thinking about past three weeks. Well it was a busy, sometimes bumpy and also fun and excited ride. There were a moment of two when I totally wanted to quit everything and I was talking to my husband with the moaning voice that I couldn’t do it anymore. Hi listened awhile and than he said: “What? You want to quit after 5 months of your business. That is not something I would expect for you! Stop whining and go to sleep.” I went to sleep and it in the morning I was good :).

My friends, my gang: Kati, Barbara, (me) and Mojca.

I am feeling a little bit chaty today and I will share with you some highlights of those weeks. Let me start with yesterdays night. I was invited to Pecha Kucha Night to speak a little bit about my work. The concept is really simple you have to speak about 20 photos 20 seconds. It was quite a interesting experience to speak about myself and listen to other creative souls. Plus I had a lovely company. These are my lovely supportive friends. The night totally turned out as a girls night out and I can’t recall when I had so much fun.

Erlier this week I was featured on Do What You Love shared stories. So exciting! Thanks Beth.

The one think I am keeping closely to my heart and it makes me busy and leads me to many thoughts, contemplates, notes, dreaming and working is Hello Soul, Hello Businessclass. We are learning about our businesses but we also connect with each other and I find this group so valuable. We have our private FB page where we can share our thoughts, fears, joys and when we can share interesting things. If there wasn’t that group right now I would honestly feel totally lost in the space. I can not participate in conversations very often, but I can read other people thoughts and it’s very comforting thing to do when life gets totally heavy. Plus my regularly morning walks became a clearing my mind routine. A blessing indeed.

I feel totally lucky that I live 5 minutes walk from a river. When I see this view on my morning walks my mind just switches on calm mode.

I am still busy with designing patterns. I learn and I learn every day. This discovery side of me was hidden to long and how I am exploring like crazy. Plus, plus, plus, plus – I am starting this Surface pattern design class next Month. The whole damn thing and I am in awe. Really!

I keep designing patterns.

I keep designing patterns.

One more quiet secret. I designed two collections last week. I think I never worked so much before. They are out in the world and I am just hoping that will caught some “peeps in the business” eyes … This is all I can say. I can not show them though my fingers are really itchy :). I am getting back to work now. I have to finish my mixed media collection for the gallery which sales my art. Enjoy.

Hi Petra! Reading your post has really inspired me. I too have been keeping a bit quiet in the Hello Soul course. I htink it’s because I am really marinating over all the information – re-thinking and re-journeying in many ways. I’m not yet ready to share – but soon! I wish I was further along in my surface pattern journey – so far all I have to show for the course is a file filled with hand drawn motifs – but no computer work 🙁 Hopefully soon – until then I shall keep checking in on your work and cheer you on from the sidelines! Have a lovely week xDonna

Know that you have support from around the globe, whether your voice is big or small. You are so much farther along in your process and direction than you think …it is a struggle, but you can do it !
I find myself often with fears and frustration boiling up…it’s hard to work through. But I know that I can reach out to my flyers and HSHB people for support and ideas that will help me through. ((hugs))

Petra, those doves are the sweetest thing ever! Your style is so sweet in general and I can see why you’re interested in surface design–I think your artwork would make wonderful fabric (that’s MY thing!) I admire you taking that course—I collect all kinds of graphics and designs with hopes of employing the ideas in art quilts. To spend a lot of time playing with design and color sounds like BIG FUN!!! Can’t wait to see what you come up with!
